This site answers one question that YouTube leaves open: how long does this playlist actually take? Paste a link, read the total. Everything else on the site exists to support that.

Who Runs This Site

PlaylistLength.App is an independent, one person project. The same developer writes the code, pays the hosting bill and answers the email. That sets what you can reasonably expect: fixes and new features arrive in batches rather than on a schedule, and a message gets a reply from the person who wrote the thing you are writing about.

The site is not affiliated with YouTube or Google, and is not endorsed by either. It reads public data through the official YouTube Data API under Google's terms. The YouTube name appears here only to describe what the tool reads.

What the Tool Does

It reads a playlist through the YouTube Data API and adds up the reported runtimes, so the total is exact rather than sampled. Beside the total you get:

• the average, shortest and longest video in the list
• the watch time at 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 2x playback speed
• a total for any range you select, such as lesson 5 to lesson 12 of a course
• the full video list with each runtime, downloadable as CSV
• a standalone speed calculator and a written guide to the alternatives

Some entries cannot be measured, and the tool leaves them out rather than guessing. Deleted, private and region blocked videos report no runtime, and a live stream that is still running has no fixed end, so a total can cover fewer videos than the playlist claims to hold.

How Your Data Is Handled

There is no account, and there is nothing to sign up for. A lookup with no API key goes through a small backend that carries a shared YouTube key, which is the only reason the tool works without one. Supply your own key instead and the request travels straight from your browser to Google. In neither case is a profile, a search history or any personal information kept about you.

The results live in your browser. Your last ten lookups stay in local storage until you clear them. A cached copy of each playlist's data expires 24 hours after it was fetched, which is why checking the same playlist again soon afterwards is instant. Clearing the recent searches list removes only that list. The cached copies expire on their own.

Where the site offers a Google sign-in, for playlists a shared key cannot read, the access requested is read-only, the token stays in the browser tab, results from a signed-in lookup are never cached, and you can revoke the access from your Google account permissions page at any time.

Traffic is measured in aggregate with Google Analytics.
